Maintenance

Cleaning of panes

The oven should be cold when you begin.

The following old tip is easy and effective:

  1. Clean the inner side of the glass with a damp cloth dipped in the fine ash in the stove.
  2. Next, dry and polish using a soft cloth.
  3. Now you have a clean pane and can fully enjoy the flames again.

Grime and edges on the pane should always be removed using an ordinary glass cleaning agent. Follow the instructions for use. When using a cleaning agent, always rinse afterwards with clean water to remove remnants of the solution. This way it will not char on the glass and leave traces when it gets hot the next time you light the stove.

Combustion chamber

Remove ash as needed – either via the stove's shaking grate or by carefully removing the ash with a small hand-held shovel. The ash should be entirely cooled before you dispose of it.

Cleaning the stove

When cleaning the outside of the stove, the procedure will depend on the colour and material the stove is made of. Below you will see how to clean your stove. Remember that the stove should only be cleaned when cold.

Stove colourDirections
White

Dry with RAIS Stove Cleaner or lukewarm soapy water (dishwashing detergent)

Black
Dry with RAIS Stove Cleaner or lukewarm soapy water (dishwashing detergent)
Nickel
Dry with RAIS Stove Cleaner or lukewarm soapy water (dishwashing detergent)
Mocha
No cleaning agents. Dry with a damp cloth
Platinum
Dry with RAIS Stove Cleaner or lukewarm soapy water (dishwashing detergent)
Silver
Dry with RAIS Stove Cleaner or lukewarm soapy water (dishwashing detergent)
Soapstone
Dry with a dry or slightly moist cloth.

It is important to clean the stove regularly. By leaving grime and spots on the stove (especially on the light surfaces), they can become extra difficult to remove.

All the colours are available as spray paint in case you need to touch up the surface. Contact your RAIS dealer.

If ordinary cleaning is not enough to remove any discolouration, contact RAIS and we will try to help.

Tip!

We recommend you always use an ordinary mild cleaning agent to clean your stove. Always test on a concealed spot (for instance, on the back of the stove) before proceeding.

Cleaning the chimney

The chimney sweep should always check both the chimney and the stove at least once a year.

See the stove's user manual for more information.
